SOSPOSA Airway Competency Certification

The SOSPOSA Airway Competency Certification ensures that every healthcare professional performing procedural sedation meets the highest standards of airway management. This comprehensive programme combines evidence-based theory with practical skills assessment.
| Two-component certification: This course includes an online theory exam and an in-person practical skills day. The practical is booked separately after passing the theory. The course price (R2,950) includes both components. Certification valid for 4 years; CPD points valid for 12 months. |
3-Phase Certification Process
Phase 1: Study & Prepare — Download and study the SOSPOSA Airway Guidelines v3.3. Allow 2–4 hours for thorough preparation.
Phase 2: Online Examination — Complete 49 multiple-choice questions covering all 5 assessment sections. 80% pass mark required.
Phase 3: Practical Assessment — 10-minute individual skills demonstration at RCA Northriding with Dr David Wels. Scheduled after passing the online exam.
